La Boheme opens in five days. It is crunch time. We are putting the cast and the orchestra for the first time later today- which should prove to be most interesting. Costumes are being fitted, and the set is massive and it’s taken more time to set up than what was originally expected. But that’s okay. Besides minor issues, things have been alright. My brain is being pulled in many different directions, and I feel as though I am not being as productive as I should be. To add to the stress, I have worked myself into a cold- still trying to figure out if it is allergy related or not… the season change here has been less than kind to me. Simply bad timing.
In other news, in Shakespeare we are preparing to do a workshop production of Hamlet, and in unarmed combat we are finishing our last scenes before we start work on the ones which will be adjudicated for the National test in December. Never a dull moment in this college town. Fuddy Meers opened yesterday, and preview was the day before that. It was an enjoyable performance, and I laughed a lot… something I needed to do desperately.
In the next few weeks, there will be masterclasses with Kyle Abram, Marc de la Concha, and Evan Harrington- all of whom I believe are Fredonia Alums. It’s a great way to network and make connections. Also, Thanksgiving break is two weeks away; a necessary time to be spent with one’s family and friends to swap stories and fill in gaps left from either Summer or Fall Break, depending on when was last you left campus homeward bound.
I am fading quickly. It is time for some rest before a very long week and a half consumes me.
