We’ve been so busy here with the start of the semester that it has taken all this time to get a post up letting you know we are indeed up and running and in full swing here at SUNY TADA. SO what’s been happening?
Well, to begin with, we have gone into rehearsal and production for our first show of the year – the Kander and Ebb/Bob Fossee musical Chicago. This hot musical is slated to open October 16th, and promises to be a jazzy time in the theatre. Auditions were back in the last week of AUgust, and to give you a sample of what’s to come, here’s a quick look at the dance audition held in the Dods Hall dance studio:
On top of that, this week has been full of celebration for the inauguration and investiture of SUNY Fredonia’s new president, Dr. Virginia Horvath. On Monday Sept. 17th, a “flash mob” broke out in front of University Commons. Choreographed by Prof. Samantha Kenney, with a cameo performance by Prof. Paul Mockovak, and featuring students from the dance program, this flash mob featured a new president who can really “get down.” Here’s a video shot for the Theatre and Dance Department:
You can also check out the “official version,” which has had over 17,000 hits as if this writing, right here:
So yes, we are already moving full speed ahead. We hope you’ll stay with us and read about what’s going on at SUNY Fredonia Theatre and Dance all year long!
